Oneblock Online

Rules & Safety

Server rules, reporting, appeals, blocked items, protected blocks and piston limits.

The full rules, with punishments for each offence, are on the Oneblock Online rules page. This article covers how to report problems, what the game blocks automatically and how to keep your island safe.

The rules

Rules are split into Chat Offenses (spamming, toxicity, hate speech, advertising, staff impersonation…) and Gameplay Offenses (griefing, scamming, hacked clients, macros and auto clickers, exploiting bugs, IRL trading…). Each rule lists its punishment escalation.

Heads up

Found a bug or dupe? Report it instead of using it. Exploiting bugs is punishable, even small ones.

Reporting an island

While visiting someone else's island, open the Server Menu: Island tab, Report Island (red). You can't report your own island or one you're a member of.

  1. 1

    Pick a category

Harassment / Hate, Sexual Content, Threats / Violence, Scam, Exploit / Lag Abuse, or Other.

  2. 2

    Describe it

Write what happened in 10-500 characters.

  3. 3

    Submit

Press Submit Report. Chat confirms with “Report submitted. ID: XXXX”.

  • Online staff are notified straight away.
  • You can report the same island again after 5 minutes.
  • Keep the report ID in case staff ask about it.

The Report Island form with the category dropdown open

While visiting another island, open Server Menu > Island > Report Island. Open the Category dropdown so all 6 options show. Do not submit.

Protecting your own island

  • Lock your island or turn off visitor permissions you don't want. See Your Island.
  • Kick or ban visitors from Members > Moderate Island, or with /island ban <name> [1d|7d|perm] [reason]. Bans only apply to visitors, never members.
  • Only give roles to players you trust. See Island Team.

Blocked items and interactions

These are switched off server-wide. Trying to use one shows “<Item> is disabled!” in red.

Item or blockWhat happens
Book & Quill, Written BookCan't be used or put on a Lectern. Removed from your inventory.
Bundles (the vanilla storage item, every colour)Removed from your inventory.
Shulker Boxes (every colour)Removed from your inventory.
BedrockCan't be placed. Removed from your inventory.
Potions and arrows of InfestedCan't be used. Removed from your inventory.
Cartography TableCan't be opened.
ShelvesCan't be opened, placed or moved by pistons.
HoppersCan't be moved by pistons.

OneBlock's own Bundles are a different thing and work normally. Vanilla anvil renaming is also disabled; Demigods rename items with /rename instead.

Protected blocks

Area effects never break or move these blocks: mining enchants, trench tools, minions, pet abilities, crop effects and the OneBlock itself. You have to break them by hand.

  • Every chest, barrel, furnace, smoker, blast furnace, brewing stand, crafter, dispenser, dropper, hopper, bookshelf and any other block with an inventory.
  • Beacon, Campfire, Soul Campfire, Chiseled Bookshelf, Conduit, Decorated Pot, Dragon Egg, Ender Chest, Jukebox, Lectern.
  • Mob Spawner, Trial Spawner and Vault.
  • OneBlock special blocks: chunk hoppers, furniture, giveaway chests, lucky blocks, spawners, floating text and spleef arenas.
  • The Halloween OneBlock pumpkin.

Tip

Your storage is safe from your own trench pickaxe and mining enchants, so you can dig freely around chests.

Pistons and redstone

RuleWhat happens
Pushing past the island borderThe piston explodes. Nearby players see “A piston tried to push blocks outside the island border, so it exploded.”
Moving stored items unsafelyThe piston is removed and dropped as an item: “Piston removed to keep stored items safe.”
Automatic crop farmsPistons next to crops (within 2 blocks) trigger “Automatic crop farms are not allowed on this server.”
Hoppers and shelvesCan't be pushed: “Moving that block with pistons is disabled on this server.”
Island block limitsPistons count toward your island's block limits.

For legal automation, see Automation, Minions and Farming. Block limits are covered in Island Upgrades.

The chat warning when a piston fires next to crops

On a test island, place a piston next to wheat and power it. Capture the chat line 'Automatic crop farms are not allowed on this server.' with the piston in view.

Activity checks and item safety

  • Players who look AFK-farming may get an Activity Check pop-up. Press the button that matches the code shown before the timer runs out. Closing it or failing can disconnect you.
  • Duplicated items are detected and removed automatically. If you ever see “[Internal Error] Please contact an admin! Case UUID: <id>”, send that ID to staff.
