Chat & Colors
Chat format, Local and Island channels, chat and name colours, prefix badges and mutes.
Chat works like normal Minecraft chat, with extras: every line shows your island, rank, coloured name, badge and title, and a chat bubble floats over your head while you talk. You can switch between Local and Island chat at any time.
A chat line showing island tag, rank badge, coloured name, prefix badge, title and coloured message
Chat screen open on PC at spawn during a busy moment. Use a test account with a rank (e.g. Champion), a name colour, an owned prefix badge, an equipped title and a chat colour, and send a message so one line shows every part. Crop to the chat panel; first person.

How a chat line is built
Each message is laid out in this order:
| Part | What it shows | Where it comes from |
|---|---|---|
| Island tag | [Island Name] in grey brackets | The island you belong to. Left out if you have none. |
| Rank badge | A small rank icon | Your highest rank (Hero, Paladin, Champion, Demigod, Media, Legend or staff). |
| Name | Your name in colour | Your Name Color choice, otherwise your rank colour. |
| Prefix badge | A small badge after your name | Your choice in /prefixselector. Patrons show their Patron badge here by default. |
| Title | For example [Billionaire] | Your equipped title. |
| Message | Your text | Your Chat Color choice, otherwise your rank colour. White with no rank. |
Your nametag above your head uses the same pieces: rank badge, coloured name, badge and title on the first line, and your money balance on the second.
Chat channels
| Channel | Who can use it | Who sees it |
|---|---|---|
| Local (default) | Everyone | Players on the same server as you |
| Island | Island members | Every member of your island team, on any server |
/chat channel localSwitch to Local chat/chat channel islandSwitch to Island chat/ic <message>Send one message to island chat without switching channel/icWith no message: switch your channel to Island (same as /islandchat)You can also flip channels from the Server Menu: Island tab, Chat Channel: Local / Island. The game confirms with “Chat channel set to Island.” Island messages look like [IslandName] Name: message.
Tip
Island chat follows your teammates across servers, so it is the easiest way to coordinate while one of you is at spawn and another is on the island. See Island Team. The Server Menu Island tab with the Chat Channel button
As an island member, open the Server Menu (hotbar slot 9) on the Island tab. The 'Chat Channel: Local' button must be visible near the top. Capture the full menu.

Chat rules and cooldowns
| Rule | Limit | What you see |
|---|---|---|
| Time between messages | 1 second | “You're sending messages too quickly. Please wait a moment.” |
| Sending the same message again | 5 seconds | “You cannot send the same message again yet.” |
Colour/format codes (§) | Not allowed | “Chat formatting is not allowed.” The message is not sent. |
Use the Chat Color option instead of format codes. There is no @mention or ping system. On PC the chat screen also has a CMD button with quick commands sorted into categories.
Chat colour
Chat Color changes the colour of the text you type (not your name). Open it with /chatcolor, or from the Server Menu: Profile tab, Chat Color. You can also apply a colour directly, e.g. /chatcolor dark_red.
The picker lists Default White first, then every colour with a wool icon. Colours you can't use are tagged Locked; your active one is tagged Selected.
| Colour | Command id | Unlocked by |
|---|---|---|
| Pink | pink | Patron, Patron+ and Patron++ |
| Aqua | aqua | Champion (and Demigod, Media) |
| Dark Red | dark_red | Demigod (and Media) |
| Green | green | Special grants only |
| Yellow | yellow | Special grants only |
| Blue | blue | Special grants only |
| Gold | gold | Special grants only |
| Lime | lime | Special grants only |
| Red | red | Special grants only |
| White | white | Special grants only |
| Dark Aqua | dark_aqua | Special grants only |
| Dark Purple | dark_purple | Special grants only |
Note
Your saved colour only shows while you still have it unlocked. If your rank runs out, your messages go back to your rank colour automatically. See Ranks. The Chat Color picker with Aqua unlocked and other colours locked
On a Champion account, run /chatcolor. Aqua should show as unlocked or Selected and most other colours tagged Locked. Capture the whole form.

Name colour
Name Color recolours your name in chat and on your nametag. It's a Champion perk, so Demigod and Media have it too. Open it with /namecolor (or the older /nickname), or from the Server Menu: Profile tab, Name Color.
- Default uses your rank colour.
- All 12 colours unlock together with Champion: Green, Yellow, Blue, Gold, Pink, Lime, Aqua, Red, White, Dark Aqua, Dark Purple and Dark Red.
- Apply one directly with
/namecolor gold. Your nametag updates straight away.
Two players side by side, one with the default name colour and one with Gold
Third person on an island in daylight. Two test players stand side by side facing the camera: one with no name colour, one Champion with Gold name colour. Both nametags (name line and money line) must be readable.

Prefix badges
A prefix badge is a small icon shown right after your name in chat and on your nametag. Open the selector with /prefixselector to swap between the badges you own.
- You only see badges you own. They are handed out for events and giveaways.
- The first button clears your badge (None). Patrons see their Patron badge here instead, and it shows whenever no other badge is picked.
- Your choice syncs to every server instantly.
Mutes and other punishments
If staff mute you, your messages are blocked and you see “You are muted for <duration>. Reason: <reason>.” Mutes and bans apply on every server. If you were offline when it happened, the notice waits in your inbox.
Read the chat rules on the rules page. To appeal a ban, use the ban appeal form. More in Rules & Safety.
