The One Block & Phases

Break the OneBlock to move through 32 phases, each with new blocks and loot chests.

The OneBlock is the block your island sits on. Break it and a new block pops up in the same spot. It never runs out.

As you keep breaking it, you move through phases. A phase is a stage with its own theme, like a forest, an ocean or the Nether. Every new phase gives you new kinds of blocks and better loot chests.

How it works

  1. 1

    Break it

    Mine the OneBlock like any block. Its items drop on top. Fortune and Silk Touch work on it.

  2. 2

    Watch the hologram

    The floating text above it shows your phase, the next phase and how many breaks you have done.

  3. 3

    Unlock the next phase

    When the progress number reaches the target, the OneBlock moves to the next phase. Everyone on your island sees a message and fireworks.

  • Breaks also give you OneBlock Mastery XP. See Masteries.
  • Minions next to the OneBlock can mine it for you. Their breaks count too.
  • Sometimes a Lucky Block pops up instead of a normal block.
  • Sand, gravel, flowers and other blocks that need support turn into Stone if there is no block under the OneBlock. Your first OneBlock already has one.

The starter chest also has 2 Oak Saplings. Plant them and the seeds right away. Wood and food are the first things you run out of. See Farming.

Loot chests

About 1 in every 100 breaks, the OneBlock turns into a chest full of loot. Open it, take everything, then break the chest to keep going.

Later phases have better chests, with things like enchanted books, Diamonds and Netherite gear. The last phase gives chests about 3 times as often.

See phases in the game

The Phases screen lists every phase, even ones you haven't reached, with each block's chance.

    Open the Server Menu

    Open the Server Menu: hold the item in your last hotbar slot, Server Menu (Click Me), and use it. You can also type /menu.

    Pick the Island tab

    Tap Island at the top.

  3. 3

    Tap OneBlock Phases

    Then tap any phase to see its blocks. Tap Chest to see what its chests can hold.

Shortcut: type /phases, or /phases the_nether to jump to one phase.

Mine an older phase (Set Phase)

Need sand? Go back to Desert. Need ores? Go back to Dungeon. Set Phase lets one OneBlock give blocks from any phase you have already reached.

    Sneak and use the OneBlock

    Hold sneak and right-click (or tap) your OneBlock. A message tells you to do it again.

  2. 2

    Do it once more

    The Manage OneBlock menu opens. You need permission to build on the island.

  3. 3

    Tap Set Phase

    Pick any phase up to the highest this OneBlock has reached. Your current one says (current).

Older phases don't move you forward

While a OneBlock is set to an older phase, its breaks don't count toward the next phase. They still give Mastery XP and quest progress. Switch back to your top phase to keep going.

The same menu has Hide Hologram to hide the floating text, and OneBlock Phases to open the Phases screen.

Get more OneBlocks

Every island starts with 1 OneBlock. You can buy up to 3 more. Each one moves through the phases on its own.

    Open the Server Menu

    Open the Server Menu: hold the item in your last hotbar slot, Server Menu (Click Me), and use it. You can also type /menu.

  2. 2

    Island tab, then Island Upgrades

    Tap Island at the top, then Island Upgrades. Only players allowed to buy upgrades see this button.

  3. 3

    Tap OneBlock Count

    Confirm, and you get a OneBlock item. Place it anywhere on your island.

The Money comes from the Island Bank (your team's shared money). Orebits Orebits are the server's premium currency and come from the buyer. Quest Tokens come from Island Quests.

  • A new OneBlock starts at Plains, with the same first 31 breaks.
  • Leave one empty block between a OneBlock and Sell Chests, Auto Craft Chests or Chunk Hoppers.
  • Smart trick: keep one OneBlock on your highest phase, and set the others to older phases you want to farm.

Move a OneBlock

You can't pick a OneBlock up. Breaking it just mines it. To move one, with all its progress, use the OneBlock Mover. It comes in the Starter Kit: type /kit starter. See Kits & Daily Rewards.

Use on a placed OneBlock, then tap an empty
target block to move it.

    Hold the Mover and use it on a placed OneBlock.

    Aim at the new spot

    Look at a block up to 8 blocks away. A green outline shows where it will go.

  3. 3

    Use it again

    The OneBlock jumps there. Switching items cancels the move.

The new spot must be empty and on the same island. If the OneBlock is a chest right now, break the chest first.
